Getting You Where You Need to Go Our team of volunteer drivers are here to help you reach the places that matter most — safely, reliably, and always with a friendly smile. We can assist with a wide range of essential local journeys, from non-emergency appointments at West Middlesex, Teddington Memorial, Kingston, and Ashford Hospitals, to GP, dental, and other healthcare visits. We’re also here to support you in attending social and community activities that help you stay connected.
In most cases, we cover journeys within a 10-mile radius, but if you have a special request for a slightly longer trip, let us know and we’ll do our best to help. The only journeys we’re unable to provide are those into congestion charging zones.
How to Book Your Ride To arrange your trip, simply call us on 020 8979 9662 at least five days before you need to travel. We’ll ask for some details, such as your pick-up point, destination, and any special requirements, so we can plan everything smoothly for you.
Special Considerations If you need extra support, such as having someone wait for you, using a walking aid like a frame or rollator, being accompanied into the venue, or making additional stops during the journey, please let us know in advance. We will always do our best to accommodate these needs, though it may not always be possible.
Volunteer Matching Our volunteer drivers are notified five days before your journey, and we will confirm as soon as a driver responds. Availability cannot be guaranteed, so the earlier you make your request, the better.
Journey Costs Each journey costs £2, or £4 for a round trip.
Important Notes To use this service, you must be able to get in and out of the car independently. Volunteers cannot push wheelchairs and may not always be able to lift items such as shopping or walking aids, so please mention any additional needs to the office when booking. All changes to journeys must be agreed in advance with the Hampton & Hampton Hill Voluntary Care office. Please remember to make all requests through the office — drivers cannot be contacted directly to arrange additional trips.
While we always try to accommodate requests, changes may be necessary depending on volunteer availability. Above all, remember that our drivers are not paid professionals but kind-hearted community members giving their time to help others — a smile and a thank you go a long way.
